What can I say…
For having everything possible going wrong for Travis (Gandalf) and his crew I still had a KICK ASS time and got to meet some really great people.
I just want to say thank you to Gandalf and the 32nd Operations crew. I know you guys had a really tough time this weekend with unforeseen problems and circumstances. However you still fought through and did an amazing job of setting up a great all day scenario with the help of Rocket Hound and Top. All three of you guys did a excellent job of giving everyone a TON of trigger time, objectives and fights over a variety of terrain.
Even though the OP did not work out as planned, there is NO doubt in my mind that the terrain, structures, field lay out will support the type of large operations that was originally planned. Just think of this as a “test” OP for future ones on that site, and in my opinion it passed with flying colors.
I want to say thank you to Travis and 32nd Operations as well as the guys from Texas especially Rocket Hound, Top, ST, Guard and Omega as well as the Front-line guys. I really enjoyed playing with you all not to mention being very impressed by Rocket’s over all tactical command and Top’s excellent job of getting us all to move during the counter-attack attack on the American forces from the Rebel HQ hill top area.
The door prizes where great and everyone walked away with something, the one kid who had won the Loaded out DBoys M4 — wow I don’t think I have every seen someone so excited in my life.
I am pretty sure everyone had a great time despite the problems.
Just to recap the day’s activity from my point of view as a Rebel:
We took the field a little after 12 Rocket had sent a force of 5 Rebels under the command of Kraut to secure and defend the Ammo Depot from the Americans. This point had to be defended until 1500 hours. The Americans came hard and out numbered the Rebel SF forces who were defending the depot. After around a 35-45 minute fire fight the Americans captured the Ammo depot and had pushed the Rebel force almost back to their mash unit.
During this time Omega was able to stop the convoy and secure the POWs. Which he and another Rebel solider returned to May-Berry.
Frantically the small Rebel force at the Ammo depot called for re-enforcements. Help soon arrived and the Rebels mounted their counter-attack on the depot. The Americans had excellent defensive positions and the Rebels were having a very difficult time making any headway. As the clock ticked closer to 1500 hours Kraut led three Rebels in a flanking maneuver around the depot itself. They where able to eliminate at least three key American troops as well as forcing other American forces to exposing their positions. The Rebel forces then charged and were able to re-take the Ammo Depot with only on minute to left!
After securing the Ammo Depot the Rebel forces headed back to May-berry to get much needed chow and rest. Rocket Hound rotated units between eating and resting to keep a 360 secure perimeter around the base. we had a few American contacts during that time, but they were either killed or quickly routed.
After about a 30-45 minute of getting chow and rest we had Intel that the American forces had massed up and were on the move to May-berry. It seemed like seconds later I hear yelling and gun fire with American contacts from the East. what followed was about a 45 minute Intense fire fight between the Americans and Rebel forces.
However during the fire fight we had a Rebel solider become ill and a “blind man” call was issued over all comm channels. Everyone stopped what they where doing and not 30 seconds later a 4 wheeler was down there to evac the Rebel solider. Later on we found out it was basically just exhaustion and dehydration do to the heat and medication, and that he came back a few hours later.
The American siege then resumed, ST was just deadly with his rocket launcher. As well as the Front-line guys with their movement to stop the Americans attempts to flank. Soon we found ourselves slowly being over run by American forces. Guard and a small force took the CNN reporters to the Rebel HQ while the rest of us bought them time to get out of harms way. Then Rocket gave the word to pull out and retreat to the Rebel HQ where we would group up and face the pursing American forces. Of all the Rebel forces at May-berry only a handful of us made it out alive and headed to out HQ.
As we climbed the hill to the Rebel HQ we could see in the distance America snipers who were feeding Intel on our positions to the American commander. We set up a hasty ambush at the peak of the hill. As we sat waiting for the Americans Rocket gave us orders to set up rolling ambushes on the American forces to slow them up as well as try and funnel them South, which we were able to do. In all I believe we had three ambushes until we finally linked up with all the Rebel forces near the JOC.
Once we had all the Rebel coordinated (everyone was spread out as we with drew from May-berry). Rocket and Top planned a counter attack on the Americans. Rocket and Top’s force would sweet down from the high ground while Front-line moved behind the Americans from the South West to try and pitch the American forces.
The plan worked perfectly the Rebels quickly dispatched all the American forces in a short amount of time, actually it worked almost too perfect. We had a few friendly fire kills as the Americans got trapped between Front-line and the force being lead by Rocket and Top.
I think the game Off was given on all Comm channels around 7:30ish and well all headed back to the staging area for beer, hot dogs, door prises and swap stories of the days battles.
I had a great time and we could not asked for better weather.
Hope to see you guys soon at OK Invasion or future OPs.
