This was our first skirmish that started with the beat the heat summer hours. We actually got started around 9:00 am with three teams of three each. Starting from three equadistant points (tan from the firebase, green from the pond and multiruss from madbush) the objective was to take and hold the communications building. Green arrived first, which was obvious when Blaster (multiruss) was ambushed at the front door. Alpha worked his way around to the back door and in but had to parlay with Chuck and retreat. Tan showed at this point and after an attempt to take the com Jager radioed to multiruss asking for an alliance. This was agreed but Kashi’s radio was down and he kept sniping tan. Alpha again went in the back door, took out Tyler, traded shots with JP at about 10 feet with both missing, and then Chuck took out Alpha with a neat on his back shot. Quickly tan and multiruss got the best of green and we returned to the cars to reload.
We picked up another player making ten in all, and divided into two five man teams, with Kashi going to green, and Alpha and Blaster to tan. This time the objective was for tan to start at the treeline near the fencline at the Rubicon South and push to the cars. Green started at the cars and was to push tan back across the Rubicon. Timmer showed up at this time and was added to Green. At game on Tan moved across the Rubicon and about 20 yards into the tanglewood area and took up defensive positions along a broad front. Green came in and at first took some casualties. Soon green probed and flanked tan with some fierce firefight. Alpha turned in his position 180 degrees to find green and took out one. Soon Kashi shot Alpha in the buttocks, and as Alpha tried to leave the area under a red flag, he was shot several more times. When he challenged why Boxman shot him under a red flag, Boxman replied that he couldn’t see anything, and was just shooting at movement which just about sums up how tough it was to see in there. This scenario went on for nearly two hours, until finally all tan were vanquished.
When we reached the cars, there were two new players waiting to play. Alpha and Jager cut out at this point so the rest of you will need to document the later scenarios. Right before I left, I shot my M203 and was amazed at the power (I sure am glad I didn’t pull the trigger in the com building). I hope the guy in the ghille suit was ok in the heat. Since there were several at the game at 8:00 am we will try that time again in two weeks.
