This is a post of the discussion from the galley comments, so I figured I'd write a review:

http://okairsoft.net...1-09-16-194742/

From CRYE's site:

The Jumpable Plate Carrier (JPC) is a lightweight and minimal vest designed for maximum mobility, weight savings, and packability. At just over one pound for the entire carrier, the JPC offers a variety of configuration options to suit an operator’s needs in terms of load carriage and comfort. It features our revolutionary new AirLite cummerbund system with our patent-pending integrated attachment system that allows pouches to be mounted on both the inside and outside of the cummerbund, shedding unnecessary weight and bulk while improving ventilation. It also features integrated admin and magazine pouches on the front of the carrier. Sizes are based on the size of the ballistic plate. For example, a large plate will fit best in a large JPC.

Weights:
  • Small: 1.2 lbs.
  • Medium: 1.3 lbs.
  • Large: 1.4 lbs.
  • Extra Large: 1.5 lbs.
From OPTactial site:

A new lightweight and minimalist approach towards protection and load-bearing solutions. Unsurpassed weight savings and packability at just over 1 lb. for the entire carrier. The JPC offers a wide variety of configuration options, from completely slicked down to fully loaded out with side plates and Crye's revolutionary new AirLite cummerbund that features their patent pending integrated attachment system. This allows pouches to be mounted on both the inside and outside of the cummerbund and sheds unnecessary weight and bulk while improving ventilation.

My impressions of the JPC:

Frosty loaned me his vest for use in OP: Heat Wave, at the time the load out configuration was: 3 Internal m4 pouches, 3 TACO pouches stacked in the front. Edmond Hydration pack and I ran about 2.5L on water in my bladder. I wish I had gotten the weight, but I would guesstimate around 30-40% lighter than my PIG w/ my Camelbak Ambush.

The vest has excellent mobility even with full SAPI plates inserted (thanks Frosty) and the breathing the JPC allows is quite noticeable on a hot day. The Skeleton design allows for a ton of air flow. However if you end up like myself and placing mag shingles or plates in you'll sacrifice that feature.

The vest has a fully adjustable cumber-bun system that can also be removed. Crye calls this design "AirLite" basically it the cumber-bun is three rows of webbing that run horizontal with a stabilizing material in the middle. They have added PAL loops in the webbing so you can attach basically anything MOLLE/PAL compatible pouch or device to the cumber-bun. Crye sells side armor pouches specifically designed for the JPC.

The vest accepts front and back up to size large SAPI plates, putting plates in or taking them out are extremely easy. The JPC replica did not come with any plates, so I used camp mat and a template and cut mine own (actually Rowdy did -- thanks!) The front of the vest has two hook and loop sealed areas, The bottom are three internal M4 pouches that are each separated by a piece of fabric to help hold the mag upright and in place. Also included are tabbed shock cords to prevent the mags from falling out of the vest if you were to crawl, go prone, tumble, etc... Frosty had removed his shock cord on his JPC I noticed a little mag movement, but on the JPC replica the mags were pretty lose so I kept the tabs on mine.

Above the Mag pouch is an admin pouch which is deceivingly large. It also is secured by hook and loop. On the JPC replica the hook and loop is every difficult to separate. I resolve this I removed some loop and also used patch backing to negate the surface area of the loop to ease the opening. The admin pouch has three sewn in straps to secure magazines, lights or other devices. The front of the admin panel also offers ample Velcro for ID patches, etc..

The JPC is covered in PALs so you will have no issue with real estate. You can run this rig from super HSLD with just the 3 internal pouches, or go balls deep with side plates and dbl pouches every place! The Crye radio pouch is extremely cool it actually attaches the the front section of Velcro under the cumber-bun flap.

The vest is fully adjustable for both height and width. As stated before the cumber-bun is fully adjustable along with the should straps. The should straps have no buckles, but only hook and loop for their adjustment. The JPC opens the same as a CIRAS. That front section of the vest which is secured by hook and loop lifts off of the cumber-bun and then the cumber-bun it attached via hook and loop to the second portion of the vest front. You can separately adjust each side of the cumber-bum and quickly do this on the fly.

The shoulder pads come with a spandex like cover that gives you routing attachments for cables or hydration tubes. I can see this material getting torn up rather quickly though, I am sure Crye offers replacement covers which should be inexpensive. The shoulder offer no cushion so I will be modding them to include camp mat or some other type of cushioning material. I also noticed that the shoulder width on the replica is a little wider than on the Crye JPC, meaning the replica JPC strap will rest further out on your should this could be a pro or con depending on your shoulder size.

Shoulder covers, notice material piling on Replica already

I currently have my JPC set up with ESSTac single punches with Kydex inserts. I chose these over TACOs thinking they'd be lower profile but in honesty they are about the same. However for a side pouch on the vest they actually work very well and are mag changes are very quick. Unlike Frosty or Biglar I decided not to dbl up on the front of the vest, but instead spread my pouches around the cumber-bun if felt this gave me much better mobility and mag access especially in the prone position.

For airsoft I am normally not a fan of buying the "real deal" since I don't put the gear under nearly the same stresses as a real world operator would and also my life is not depending on it. That being said; If you are set on buying a JPC I would recommend NOT buying the replica but the real deal. The material choices really make and break this rig, I am already seeing wear on my replica rig just from getting the pouches set up on it. I see wear from hook and loop rubbing on the inside of the vest as well as the should start material starting to ball up where it has been damaged.

Any question please let me know, I posted this review quickly this morning and probably will be adding pictures / editing the post.

If you would like to purchase a Crye JPC please contact Frosty @ Kastaway Tactical either via his email or a PM on these forums or MSE's.

Thanks,

JP

Thank you JP. I might have to pick one of these up for BFL. I wish Voodoo made their FAPC in CB. Frosty or Claymore do you know why they don't? For reference: HERE
