My team and I have everything we need to start hosting events for the central Oklahoma area. Or at least I think we do.

Field (we have two! :D): check
Dedicated staff/admin: check
Liability/medical wavers: check

Wow that list was a lot shorter than I thought it was going to be.

The only thing that I can see that we don't have is insurance for our field. Now I'm not new to airsoft and neither is my team but we are new to field management. Can anyone shed some light on where I would even start looking for said insurance? Running a field without is fine and dandy until someone hurts themselves and we end up packing up because we got sued. -_-

#4 - A lengthy OP list

#5 - OP attendance in other states including known National OP's

#6 - Street Cred (received by attending as a TEAM at National OP's)

#7 - Help/Backing of Senior Players and or a community

#8 - Staff Experience at Local or Reigonal OP thrown by the community

#9 - A Ruleset that will abide by the STANDARDS set forth by the National Community

#10 - The ability to do what you say to the point of being around more than a year....

I'd say you have some work to do. And I will say this, MSE knows the dedicated milsim players in the US and I have never heard of you or your team, save for the PM I got this week. (OKI6 was just months ago, LEGIT players and teams attend this OP) It's said above that you and your team is not new to the sport, prove it with OP pics, AAR's and your names on Legit OP Rosters...That and only that proves it.

My advice is to hold weekend games that are scneario based for a while, get feedback from the attendees and then wrap all that up into an Operation that you and this state can be proud of.

MSE is a resource gold mine...WE DO help local players and groups achieve their goals, we have proven that time and time again.

All I want to see is a post like this go somewhere....Cuz I've seen it time and time again over the years without the results this State needs. Your projected Fizzle out time is 9 months, Now go and prove me wrong. Believe me, I'd be delighted if you did.

If you are a professional in: Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, IT, Business Owner, High Volume/$ Sales or Scheduling you already may have a leg up on what is needed and is part of your street cred. If your professional background is nothing more than a cashier at a local store, you are biting off more than you can chew. The management of said events takes more than just passion.

MSE's assistance to you now is the fact that you can get event insurance online, just Google it...

My advice

Attend some local State and out of State OPs, build a repuation, then look into running some.
If you are not willing to give up everything, you have already lost.

Thanks for the info guys, especially you Claymore. That helps out a lot. We'll probably hold off on the field thing for a while but we'll definately be more involved locally with the in-state community.

CLIFF NOTES to my post above. I just did not want to sound like an elitest prick, so I expounded upon the obvious statement as best I could.

Speaking of which how can we get more involved with helping the community? Attending OPs isn't an issue because we have several that are coming up that we're going to attend but I'm meaning more of being actively involved. Is there any way we can help with setting up events or something similar? Personally I have administrative and am knowledgable with event planning (I help OSU-OKC with several of their events throughout the year) and I'm currently in charge of engineering at 3 of the Hilton owned hotels in Norman. My team can also provide manpower when it comes to physically helping to set up events. We've been a VERY local group and haven't gotten all that organized until just recently. We'd love to help the community and we definately want to see milsim grow. I'd rather help support known and established events than try to start one that has the possibility of being a drag on the community.

Attending the local weekend skirmishes that are posted weekly is the best way for everyone to get to know each other. As we (the Oklahoma airsoft community as a whole) become familiarized with you and your group, we will know who you are and what you are about, and not just an eloquent poster with a few acres of backyard to mess around in. Most of the experienced community doesn't care for "amateur" productions, as many of us have been to quite a few high-caliber national events, as well as superbly organized local games.
Come out and meet us face to face, talk with us, game with us, immerse yourself with us. There is a lot more that goes on in this community outside of these forums.

What is an airsoft veteran? A vet participates in his craft often, or has in the past. A vet shows up for games as a routine, and shows professional deportment on the field. A vet strives to become a knowledgeable adversary, and as hard as it may seem at the time, can be gracious in defeat and humble in victory (nobody likes a braggart or a sore loser). A vet does accumulate an array of gear/weapons as he moves along in his endeavor to be competitive, and often learns the ins and outs of equipment modification and maintenance. A vet is usually glad to be helpful, but sometimes cannot hide his disdain for the substandard. A vet will usually step up if asked to fill a leadership role, and will just as willingly accept a subordinate position (the most fun in this game is at the grunt level anyway). Above all, the vet respects all who play the game honorably for he realizes without the others he would just plink at targets.
