Overpriced solution to a bit of 100MPH tape and 550 paracord. But they look sexy as hell.

What is an airsoft veteran? A vet participates in his craft often, or has in the past. A vet shows up for games as a routine, and shows professional deportment on the field. A vet strives to become a knowledgeable adversary, and as hard as it may seem at the time, can be gracious in defeat and humble in victory (nobody likes a braggart or a sore loser). A vet does accumulate an array of gear/weapons as he moves along in his endeavor to be competitive, and often learns the ins and outs of equipment modification and maintenance. A vet is usually glad to be helpful, but sometimes cannot hide his disdain for the substandard. A vet will usually step up if asked to fill a leadership role, and will just as willingly accept a subordinate position (the most fun in this game is at the grunt level anyway). Above all, the vet respects all who play the game honorably for he realizes without the others he would just plink at targets.

Agreed. I'd rather spend the money on a magpul front end stock than on something for my mags. Most guys never learn to reload fast enough to even matter for adding pricey rubber loops on their guns.

I would agree I just wanted what the purpose was and why people use them.

"When installed on the base of a rifle magazine, the original Magpul provides improved speed and controllability during high stress, tactical magazine changes."
Basically it makes pulling a mag out of the pouch easier.
As with anything, YMMV.
Then, we could get into a long drawn-out discussion on tactial fashion and fads in airsoft and the shooting community as a whole.

I remember buying a few at a gun show for $1.00 a piece. That was a reasonable deal. The problem is that all the retailers caught onto how well they sell and started charging $3.00ea. That's a rip off.
Then again, it can be said that the entire thing's a gucci gear rip off to begin with, since you can do the same thing and achieve the same goal with duct tape and baling twine (literally).
I have never been in a situation in airsoft where I needed to reload so quickly that a MagPul would have made a difference.

I like magpul stuff, everything I own of theirs is very high quality. If you have extra money and nothing else to buy, you can replace your para cord and duck tape with something that looks pretty and works all the same

I have them and I have used them for years. I like them. They do enable me to remove them from my pouches quickly. I have tried tape and para cord and I did not like it as well as the Magpuls.

I've used the magpuls on my airsoft mags yet they end up just slipping off, so I keep the magpuls on my AR-15 mags and they shine there. I just use some tape and paracord for my airsoft mags now.

What airsoft mag brand are you using? I use magpuls on all my mags (5.56, 7.62, .45) and they fight tooth and nail to squeeze them down to where they should be. I am looking into buying pmags now and I've heard you need the hard plastic style magpuls instead of the rubber ones. So I may not buy them for the pmag. I will say this my EBR setup looks sexy with the magpuls and everything. But everyone is right its really nothing but a Gucci addon.

I've used rubber MPs on MAG, G&P, KWA, TM, Echo1, and various other brand M4 AEG mags. Never had slipping issues. getting them on was a tad difficult. AEG M4 mags actually tend to be slightly wider in dimensions, compared to real steel. I've also put rubber MPs on a PTS PMAG with no real issues, other than the wide baseplate making things difficult. Also the lip of the baseplate made the rubber pull sit lower and consequently making the grap loop smaller. Plus it made the base area of the PMAG even wider, making things even more difficult when using a double-mag pouch.
Also used 7.62 MPs on G&G and CA M14 mags, same results.
