Washington (CNN) — President Barack Obama is expected to announce this week that 30,000 U.S. “surge” forces will be fully withdrawn from Afghanistan by the end of 2012, an administration official told CNN.
Members of Congress are being informed that the 10,000 troops will be withdrawn by the end of this year, followed by another 20,000 next year, a congressional source said.
Obama will deliver a highly anticipated speech on the troop drawdown at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.

In the early years of the Iraq war, the U.S. military developed a technology so secret that soldiers wouldrefuse to acknowledge its existence, and reporters mentioning the gear were promptly escorted out of the country. That equipment – a radio-frequency jammer – was upgraded several times, and eventually robbed the Iraq insurgency of its most potent weapon, the remote-controlled bomb. But the dark veil surrounding the jammers remained largely intact, even after the Pentagon bought more than 50,000 units at a cost of over $17 billion.

Antiwar Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) filed suit in federal court Wednesday seeking to halt the U.S. military action in Libya, saying it is unconstitutional.
Kucinich and Republican Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina, another longtime war critic, led a bipartisan group of lawmakers in the latest challenge to the White House‘s authority to conduct the campaign without seeking congressional approval under the War Powers Act.

You might not think this effects Oklahoma airsoft, but if this bill passes it will set a precedent for the future foundation of more bad legislation. This type of legislation is never the answer, all it does is treat a symptom and not the problem itself.
As used in Section 20165, “imitation firearm” does not include any of the following:
(1) A nonfiring collector’s replica that is historically significant, and is offered for sale in conjunction with a wall plaque or presentation case.
(2) A spot marker gun which expels a projectile that is greaterthan 10 mm caliber.
(3) A device where the entire exterior surface of the device is white, bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright pink, or bright purple, either singly or as the predominant color in combination with other colors in any pattern, as provided by federal regulations governing imitation firearms, or where the entire device is constructed of transparent or translucent materials which permits unmistakable observation of the device’s complete contents, as provided by federal regulations governing imitation firearms.
The California Paintball Safety Coalition has convinced Senator De Leon to amend SB798 to exempt paintball from this bill. This Coalition is now asking people to contact Senator De Leon to thank him for working with the paintball industry and that they support the bill. That means this bill will allow ALL BLACK PAINTBALL REPLICAS OF FIREARMS TO EXISTwhile forcing Airsoft guns to be brightly colored. THIS MAKES NO SENSE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY OR AS A LAW.
Protect Airsoft by not supporting this bill. Contact the legislator and tell them this bill is makes no sense and YOU DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BILL.
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BILL!

Got an Army you need to hide? With more than a million soldiers in a dozen countries wearing his camouflage patterns, Guy Cramer is now hoping to change how the Pentagon dresses. Inside the evolving science of concealment.
Great article by Bruce Barcott in the Atlantic.
Cramer’s company, HyperStealth Biotechnology Corporation, sounds like one of those large, villainous military contractors in a Matt Damon thriller. But it’s really just him and a part-time assistant. HyperStealth’s research lab is an unmarked office in a former grade school in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Local industry consists of a sawmill. Once you get to know Cramer, you realize the environs express his aesthetic of concealment. He practices the fine art of not being noticed.
